Commentary
Sarah’s parentage:
Sarah’s surname is recorded as Russell on her 1661 marriage bond. The marriage bond gives the places to be married as Bromsgrove or Halesowen. As Bromsgrove was the Foleys’ home parish, Halesowen was likely associated with the Russells. The only Sarah Russell that I can find who was baptized in the time period in the area of Halesowen was baptized 12 March 1642/3 in Rowley Regis, with the father William Russell.
A few facts give support to the assumption that this is the correct baptism for the Sarah of this page. The Rowley Regis register records the baptism on 16 February 1639/40 of Mary, the daughter of William Russell, and also records the burials on 18 November 1657 of William Russell and his daughter Mary, giving the abode as Halesowen. This is the abode that I would expect for Sarah at the time of her 1661 marriage. In his 1657 will, William Russell named Sarah and Mary, as well as his wife Anne and other children.
