Thomas Edmunds

Events

Date of Birth: unknown.

Place of Birth: unknown.

Date of Burial: 29 January 1558/9.

Place of Burial: Southam, Warwickshire.

The burial is recorded in the parish register.

Relationships

Father: Thomas Edmunds.

This relationship is given the parish register entry for the second marriage of Thomas (junior). A couple, Richard Edmunds (died 1533) and Joan (died 1536) left a son Thomas as their executor, but the 1543 marriage record must outweigh that evidence, especially as Agnes’s will suggests that some of Thomas’s children were from a previous marriage, which is consistent with the known dates of the marriages of some of Thomas’s children.

Mother: unknown.

Spouse: unknown.

At least some of Thomas’s children must have been born before his marriage to Agnes.

Spouse: Agnes, widow of Ellis Goght. Married 3 February 1542/3 in Southam.

Agnes’s will and probate inventory mention her husband, Thomas Edmunds. Thomas’s burial record mentions his wife.

Children:

(Complete source citations for facts about the children on this page are currently outside of the scope of this project. Agnes calls John and Anthony her sons in her will and leaves them bequests, but only leaves bequests to those daughters of Henry, Richard, and Robert who were named Agnes.)

Elizabeth Edmonds married Edmund Benet of Dunchurch 23 November 1545 in Southam.

Richard Edmonds (died about 1578) married Agnes before 1551.

Ryan Edmonds

Robert Edmonds

Henry Edmonds (buried 9 July 1592 in Southam) married Margaret Wirrall 20 November 1563 in Southam.

John Edmonds

Anthony Edmonds married Alice Clarke 8 November 1562 in Southam.
