Commentary
John’s parentage:
There were two baptisms of a John Jameson in Alloa in the relevant time period, in 1635 (parents John Jamesone and Elizabeth Strauchan) and 1639 (parents David Jamesone and Janet Ranny). It seems likely that the latter is the correct baptism, since David Jamisone was a witness for the 1667 baptism of John’s son John. He was possibly also cautioner for John’s marriage.
