I totally spaced off yesterday's blog. Sorry about that - I blame the cold.
In Literature 9 we watched the video relating what happened on Mount Everest from a doctor's perspective. It picks up where our story leaves off. We learned about the power of the mind - willpower has an entirely new meaning for me. Today (Wednesday) we took a reading check over the story. We also reviewed the commonly confused words. We are almost done with the informative side of nonfiction. Here we come persuasion.
In English 10 we're still discussing the power of the vocal personality (rate, inflection, pitch, volume, articulation, etc). We also discussed physical delivery. Today we made a key for marking our script. All good speakers make some kind of notes for their presentations. We're going to mark a script of The Great Gatsby, and then compare it to a professional reader.
In American Literature (yesterday) we continued watching The Crucible. We should finish it on Thursday, but if we can't, definitely Friday. All of us (myself included) get so frustrated with the community. How could they so blindly believe a group of girls who are obviously lying? It so obvious to us that is - but maybe if we lived during that time we'd believe it too. We will be starting on our nonfiction section next week.
In American Government we finished our discussion of capitalism. We spent most of today (Wednesday) providing examples of how the United States can enjoy capitalism while also having governmental regulation. This is their essay question for the test on Monday.
Well, now I'm caught up. I still have the cold, but according to medical professionals, there's no cure for that!
