March...MARCH! Where did January and February go? I can't believe how we are already well into the year. It's crazy how fast time goes. I need to learn to appreciate it while I can.
In Literature 9 we started with an activity to check to see if everyone watched the video assigned. It was clear who did and who didn't based on their conversations. Each group had a cluster of true/false facts that one, two, or even all of the facts might be true. After a discussion, they then submitted their form to me for clarification. Once all the boxes were appropriately checked, they took a box of markers and cards to diagram and work with The Gettysburg Address. We will finish this tomorrow.
English 10 is still working with their motivational speeches. We will begin to organize our rant speeches soon. Everyone should have taken their No Red Ink quiz.
In American Literature we started with five minutes of vocabulary working. They were to discuss the antonyms, synonyms, and doodle the words related to thought and judgment. Then we completed a QR activity. Everyone was placed in a group of four. Within that group, individuals were numbered 1-4. Using a QR reading, they were to read about transcendentalism and fill out a notes' form. Each group then pooled their information into a 32-word definition - no more, no less. We didn't quite get to the definition part (writing it on the big paper that was provided). We will pick up there. For homework, read the biography on Ralph Waldo Emerson and watch the video on Henry David Thoreau. Next week we will be working on our Book Ball.
In Law, we read our second excerpt of the Murder Mystery Box. We looked at the floor plan for the ranch. Then everyone was given time to work on a vocabulary lesson. With the time remaining, finish out the criminal packet.
Have a great Thursday everyone!
