Today is like a Friday, yet not. (Smile) There were a lot of students gone for various reasons - the national FFA convention, a heavy equipment meeting, Cross Country send off, whew - kids were running everywhere. We were also a little distracted by all the costumes. I was a "punny" girl - a dunkin' donut! I hope everyone got a good laugh.
In English 10 we reviewed vocabulary words before we took our quiz. Then we talked about our demonstration speech outline. This will be a crazy presentation as next week will be ITED's as well as the play (which could mean a matinee). Next week we'll review the characteristics of an introduction and conclusion.
In American Literature each class had a little different itinerary. What both classes had: a Patrick Henry resume presentation. Those that have drawn Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Frederick Douglas should get their research completed as their presentations are quickly approaching. In third hour we reviewed the vocabulary related to Henry's speech, and then we started to listen to his address. In fourth hour we listened to his address, but didn't get to vocabulary. Hopefully we can get everyone on the same page on Tuesday.
In Literature 9 we finished the skills portion of our Unit Test. We then cleaned out our notebooks and prepared it for the next quarter. We then reviewed the Unit Plan for our Short Story Unit. Then to wind things up we started a puzzle that reviewed book genres.
It will be nice to have some sort of break; it's been a long time coming.
