Speech breakfast was this morning, and since I had to set a few things up, I was here at 6:10 AM. It is now 2:50 PM and I'm beat. I'm getting too old for late nights and early mornings! The wonderful thing was celebrating the amazing achievements of the speech and drama department.
In Literature 9 it was a little laid back today. We reviewed the concept of local color, and then took our Chapters 11-15 quiz. I'm sure everyone did fine, as I firmly believe everyone is doing their ready - well, almost everyone. I then handed out the vocabulary for the next set of chapters. Let's hope everyone gets that done this time. I really don't want to have to have quizzes.
In English 10 we discussed what animals the different characters would be. I like assignments like this because it makes us think abstractly. Then we reviewed verbals (distinguishing verbs - the paragraph), and then had a graded assignment. It's not a quiz, just an assignment to let me know where everyone is in this process. We took a Scene 3-4 check and then tried to get a little scene 5, but ran out of time.
In American Literature we finished our discussion of The Scarlet Letter. Then it was time for the assessment. I haven't had a chance to grade them yet, but as I walked around it seemed like things were going all right. For next week everyone should be studying Poe and reading "The Pit and the Pendulum". It seems most are excited to read some Poe.
In Law we finished our discussion of sentencing and defenses. Time for a quiz here as well. When we were done, the law students helped me clean up the new commons a bit. That was so nice of them!
Have a great Easter everyone! I hope it is a blessed one.
