This day literally flew by. I barely remember coming to work today, and now it's the end of the day, and I'm not sure what I got done! Probably nothing! I'm learning new technology, uploading things to YouTube, Story Corps, and more, and trying not to get frustrated because it's not easy. Nothing worth trying is easy, but sometimes I would just like things to go smoother.
In Literature 9 we took our check over "Son from America" and also finished up the vocabulary for it. Then we took time to discuss the seven elements of its story. It's one of my favorite stories because I just love the message - "If you're happy with what you have, you'll never need anything more!" What a great concept for the holiday season. We then started working on our study guide. Our test will be Tuesday.
In English 10 it was all about research. Everyone was supposed to create a Google Doc (and share with me) with their Informative topic as its title. Everyone was supposed to start researching their topic. Using primarily Wikipedia as a resource for an outline, the research should be a little easier. Today we were supposed to see the conversations uploaded to Story Corps. I'm so excited to listen to these projects. I truly think they were one of the best projects I've ever assigned. The YouTube channel thing has got me a little frustrated, but that's o.k.
In American Government we started class with current events. Some of the news items kids find is absolutely mind boggling - that pigeons detect breast cancer - I just laughed. What would make someone create a hypothesis for that and then receive grant money and then experiment. And they can 80% of the time! Then we discussed the Preamble. Why is this first sentence even there? On Monday we will be taking a Preamble quiz. This first sentence basically sums up who we are as a people.
Have a great weekend everyone!
