Today the cold has gotten to me. I just want to curl up in a blanket and sleep. So much for the "walking on sunshine" attitude I had yesterday.
In Literature 9 we reviewed the vocabulary words for "Sweet Potato Pie". Tomorrow we will be completing a vocabulary lesson, so it's important to have our notes completed. We then took a Moodle quiz over the short story. We started our discussion, but we have a little more to review. This is such a sweet story, and I look forward to re-reading it every year.
In English 10 we were introduced to several of Time's Top 100 Individuals for 2013. I really learned a lot; unfortunately I didn't see the stellar speeches I had hoped to see at the end of a unit. We've been studying speech structure and technique for 19-20 weeks now, and I still had so many students get up and "wing" it. Their message lacked substance, and their delivery lacked formality and polish. We're done with speeches now, but I had hoped to see more growth than what today's presentations showed.
In American Government we did a small scavenger hunt on Congressional committees. It was soon clear that legislation can be assigned to several committees. We then discussed the jurisdiction of the House committees and the Speaker of the House's responsibility to assign them to the proper committee.
In Law we reviewed the key objectives, terms, and concepts related to Chapter 1. We've been on this chapter for quite some time, but there are a lot of difficult concepts in this chapter. Tomorrow will be the test, so hopefully everyone has time to complete the study guide and review those difficult concepts.
