What a day! As frustrating as yesterday was, I think today might have actually beat it! I guess that is the tale of life. So as a good friend said to me, "Take a deep breath, be thankful you can (take that deep breath), and move forward." And that really is the truth - I can take deep breaths, I can walk across the floor, and I can do what I love to do - teach. So why worry man (you should have read that last part in a Jamaican accent!)
In English 10 we're struggling to get informative speeches done. For once, first hour is on a roll, but boy are we struggling in eighth hour. Whether it's forgotten notecards, inoperative computers, or lost time, we simply can't get the speeches in. I'm not worried that we won't get done before Christmas, but I really wanted to get our motivational speeches in before the holiday break. I think I should just throw my hands up and say - after Christmas!
In American Literature - oh wait, we didn't have American Literature. The juniors were taking ASVABs. We will meet tomorrow to discuss "Self-Reliance" and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
In Literature 9 we started out finishing our workshop on characterization. We compared two characters that were described as "big". It was interesting to see how an author, with a few simple changes in word choice, can make a character go from negative to positive. Then we watched a video depicting "Cask of the Amontillado". Tomorrow we're going to have a quiz over the two workshops - characterization and irony.
Have a great Thursday!
