OK, I swear that I did this post, but I have no idea where it went. So let's try it again.
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". We discussed how James Thurber made up words, used incorrect words (malaporism), and threw words in that made no sense - all for the sake of humor. We then took a check over the story, and then everyone completed a vocabulary lesson. The assignment for Wednesday is to look up the words for the story "The Necklace".
In English 10 this was the last day to work on speeches. We looked at outlines, which are not supposed to be compositions. They are to be bullets of information, not entire paragraphs. Some really need to return to their outlines and rework them. We also reviewed how to put in a source citation. It seems many think that a URL and/or an in-text citation is sufficient.
In American Literature we reviewed the elements of an author's style. We then applied those elements to Hawthorne - formal, archaic, and abstract. We then read up to where Dimmesdale and Hester make their plans to run away together. We will finish up the story on Thursday and then take the quiz on Friday.
In Law we had a Bill of Rights quiz. We will soon be discussing statute law (criminal vs. civil).
