Weather is all the talk - going from 60+ to a blizzard warning is cruel and unusual punishment and violates my 8th amendment rights. Where can I sue Mother Nature?
In Literature 9 we finished up annotating the "Gettysburg Address". Then we compared its structure and annotated JFK's address on June 11, 1963. We didn't have a lot of time to discuss "Sayonara," so we'll pick up there tomorrow. (If there is a tomorrow...) The blizzard that is upsetting everyone's schedule.
In English 10 we constructed an argument to drive our parent's new $50,000 car. Then we discussed the structure of our pro/con speech. I think everyone understands how this is going to work. Then we took our persuasive speaking quiz/test/twiz/quest. I never know what to call those things that are a little bit a test and a little bit a quiz.
In American Literature we took a quiz (open-note) over Emerson and Thoreau. I realize that a lot of students don't read the assignments, but I'm resigning myself that I can't fight that. Their quiz grades simply reflect it. Then they worked on a vocabulary lesson over words related to Order and Relationships. We only completed exercises #1,2 and the last one. We didn't need to do the entire thing to work with the words. We will be having a test over lessons #5-6 next week.
In Law we finished up Section 4-1. We reviewed the differences between trial and appellate courts. Then we reviewed the terms related to this section. This is a short section, so in anticipation of the impending blizzard, we decided (and it was we!) to take our quiz today rather than chance that we would have to take it on Monday.
I hope that the blizzard is quick and not as powerful. There is already a domino effect with the basketball game being moved to Saturday and our tournament is on Saturday. Let's hope that the speech kids can still compete, the boys compete well, and everyone gets the weekend activities in. Have a great Thursday.
