It's always hard to return to school after a long break. It's almost like we need a break from our break.
In Literature 9 (in all of the classes really) we started out watching a funny Christmas light show. I've showed it in the past, but it's just fun. We finished up "The Necklace" by defining a satisfied life and applying it to Mdm. Louisel. Then we read the biography of Isaac Bashevis Singer and looked for five facts about his life. We then compared them with four other classmates to see what facts received four check marks - deeming them "brain-cell worthy". We decided that the fact that he was Jewish, moved to the United States to escape Hitler, was a writer of short stories, children's books, autobiographies, and plays, and finally won the 1978 Nobel Prize were all key facts. Then we worked on writing in the definitions of the vocabulary (no synonyms, etc.) Everyone is supposed to read the story for tomorrow. Then we're going to divide into four groups and create a reader's theater.
In English 10 we talked about the Mayflower Project a bit, then we finished our notes over the 6 C's. Then it was organizing our material into main points and parallel wording. I distributed the outline for them to start completing. For tomorrow, all research must be done. Start with Wikipedia as it will organize the information for you.
In American Government we played a game entitled "How Much Money Can You Make?". It was funny to watch people get frustrated with others because they wouldn't do what was best for the group, but they did what was best for themselves. It was a perfect simulation to the Articles of Confederation. We then reviewed the information from their lecture video (very briefly). We were going to take a group quiz, but unfortunately time got away from us. That quiz will be on Wednesday.
This week starts the busyness of the speech, athletic, and music seasons. I look to the future, and I am t-i-r-e-d!
