Tuesdays - always busy, but today there is a lot going on - cross country meet, Pink Out in the gym, play practice, etc. This is the heart of a high school. It's great that so many people participate in the activities.
In Literature 9 we started class by discussing details about Saki (Hector Hugh Munro) and comparing him to Edgar Allan Poe. Then we reviewed Expand the Vocabulary. Next was the story itself - characters, setting, plot, conflict, etc. Everyone received a vocabulary lesson to complete ON THEIR OWN! We will take our quiz tomorrow and prepare for our unit test at the end of the week.
In English 10 we spent the first 15 minutes reviewing the vocabulary words for our next test on Attitudes and Appearances. There was a lot of laughing, but I heard a lot of studying as well. Next we took group quizzes over the information from the propaganda notes people were supposed to take. It was unfortunate when one person didn't do their homework and a group had to suffer. Such is the case in life - one person doesn't do their job, it can affect the entire company. Tomorrow after our test, we'll review the different techniques.
In American Literature we also worked with vocabulary - vocabulary related to change. Everyone was assigned to new vocabulary teams and developed new names. We then reviewed Jonathon Edwards - his legacy, his personal narrative, and his style of writing (definitely not Puritan style!). On Thursday we will take a quiz over Anne Bradstreet and Jonathon Edwards.
I hope everyone can get a little time to rest tonight. Good luck to the cross country and the volleyball teams.
