Just like the farmers at the elevator, the people at morning coffee, and everyone else in the tri-state area - we are all talking about the weather. For me, since our Christmas is this weekend, I am frantically praying for safe travel for my family and relatives.
In Literature 9 we had another mystery box. I love making these, and the students seem to love solving them. All the 12 clues were related to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I had so much fun running around my house putting together the Sherlock hat and pipe, a book about Edgar Allan Poe, an army hat, a crown with sword, a toy dog sitting atop a book, an eye and syringe (thank you Mr. LeFebvre), a sheet of paper depicting occult symbols, a whale picture and the word "hope" spelled below it, a bell, a passport with various stickers, a beer bottle, and a set of math problems with the last one circled. For Monday read part of the short story related to Sherlock Holmes.
In English 10 we took our vocabulary test over Jobs and Occupations. Then the announcement to get out of school came, and the roar went up. We will have our informative speech test on Tuesday and our demonstration speeches are due on Thursday.
In American Government we finished our discussion of the ratification process of the U.S. Constitution. Then we started our discussion of the symbols found on the Great Seal. We started with discussing the eagle, the crest of the golden glory, the unsupported shield, the olive branch, the arrows, and the motto E Pluribus Unom. We will finish this on Monday with our test on Wednesday.
Have a safe, warm, and fun weekend.
