Shakespeare's birthday! And I forgot to celebrate. What kind of English teacher am I? It might be a late night of cupcake making, but we will celebrate the Bard's birthday!
In Literature 9 we finished the test. It took some students a lot longer than others, and I didn't want anyone to feel rushed. Those that were waiting used that time (I think wisely) to fix and order their notebooks. We will begin watching the movie tomorrow.
In English 10 we review dangling and misplaced modifiers again. Tomorrow we will have a little assessment. We then got through Scene 2, and in first period half of scene 3. Hopefully tomorrow we can finish both scenes 3-4. I really want to be done with Act III towards the beginning of next week.
In American Literature it was a flurry of papers. First we reviewed the objectives and goals for the Great American Poetry unit. We then started out bell ringers with vocabulary related to poetry. Then we discussed the play Our Town. I did a quick introduction of Thorton Wilder's life and contributions. We then discussed the requirements for reading the play. They received a packet of questions along with a biography of Wilder. Act I, Part I is due for Tuesday. Edgar Allan Poe was next on the agenda with a presentation of the resume. We will analyze his poetry on Tuesday and move onto Emily DIckinson.
In Law we shared our news items and then began to watch 12 Angry Men. I hope they enjoy this classic movie about our judicial system. Everyone received an email about how juries are selected.
Happy Thursday everyone. All are a buzz about prom, and I know it will be a good night.
