I see the end of the quarter rapidly approaching, and I have this intense desire to hurry up. It's not necessary, but I just feel the clock ticking and I'm not moving fast enough.
In Literature 9 we had a few book talks, including mine on To Whisper Her Name. I shared the book trailer as an example of what to do with Windows Movie Maker. Then we reviewed the qualities that both the daughter and the mother Anna shared. We then took a reading quiz, and with the remaining time in class, we started our vocabulary lesson. We will finish those lessons tomorrow. Homework is finishing the perseverance T-shirt design. We will narrow down our choices to five and then vote for the number 1 design. Good Luck.
In English 10, we also had a few book talks (including mine). We then had four vocabulary presentations. We didn't have much time, so I put everyone in a group of three, and they have to return to the Padlet and evaluate the commercials that were posted. On the notes provided, they have to indicate whether they agree or disagree with the designation. All reviews have to be done by Thursday.
In American Literature, we started the class period with reading and book talks. We then looked at the ten new vocabulary words related to probability. Groups then discussed who was helping with what word. Then I distributed the resume on John Smith and William Bradford. Using a highlighter or underlining, each table read through the resume and highlighted those facts that were supported with our archaeological dig. We didn't have much time to get to Puritan legacy and style. I'm hoping I can still get that in on Thursday. Courage paper is due on Thursday.
Time seems to go so quickly. I realize I'm "losing" ten minutes to silent reading, but the students are gaining white brain matter.
Good luck to the cross-country team and their conference meet tonight.
