The hallways are empty, the room is quiet, and another school year is over. This is a little surreal to me. I've absolutely loved this year! Despite all the turmoil, this has been an amazing year of learning and teaching. I hope I can ride this "high" right into next year.
We didn't have Literature 9 today, and I missed seeing them first hour. Several of them come into my classroom at 8:00 AM to just hang out. I liked that.
In English 10 (6th hour) we watched a little STOMP, reviewed a few tough capitalization rules, and then took our semester test.
In American Literature (4th Hour) we discussed the importance of reading throughout the summer. At times I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. I really emphasized reading in all my classes, but for many it's so ingrained in them that they hate reading that I don't think I got very far. We eventually took our semester test, and judging by the scores, there was some serious learning going on.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe summer. If you're every bored, stop by the house. I'm sure we can find something for you to do - painting, trimming trees, walking the dog, etc. See you next fall!
