Everyone is just wiped out today - I can see it in their faces, and I can feel it in my bones. I too am just out of it today.
In Literature 9 we finished To Kill a Mockingbird. We had some great discussions as we tried to discern what happened under the tree. We also discussed whether the Ewell's started it all or that it began, as Jem said, when they tried to make Boo Radley come out. Most of us can't conceive of the book without the chapters related to Boo Radley. We discussed what a classic might include - literally (it's just a good story), socially (Did the book change society and the people who live in it?), and morally (Did it change us as individuals?) To answer that question, everyone is to complete a journal entry on Moodle. Tell me what you think.
In English 10 it was time to say we've had enough grammar. We took our unit test over phrases - prepositional, verbals [participle, gerund, and infinitive], and appositives. I think things were going o.k. (other than having to write the sentences out which caused some to grumble). With the time remaining, everyone was to do the extra credit, check their notebooks, and finish reading Act IV.
In American Literature we finished the skills portion of our Romanticism test. I really thought this would be done within 10 minutes, but it took a little longer than I anticipated. With the remaining twenty minutes I introduced John Steinbeck and very little about the background to Of Mice and Men. I amended the assignment for next Tuesday to simply read Chapter 1. I hope I've allowed enough time to finish everything. I already know that there are some major authors we're not going to get to, and I have to learn to be OK with that.
In Law we began our conversation about Intentional Torts. I sometimes think that law has become very repetitious and all we do is discuss things. I hope that I can come up with something that might be a little more exciting in providing information. Law might be a good class to consider flipping! Hmmm, a thought for the summer.
The weather for this weened is supposed to be amazing. I hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy it.
