Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your break and then your Genius Week experience. I have to admit, however,
In Literature 9 we reviewed the expectations by playing Kahoot. We reviewed the independent reading program and I distributed a novel evaluation. I provided page numbers for each quarter. I loved looking at this data. We also created a new semester notebook. Our book evaluation is due tomorrow. We're also going to have our second book tasting tomorrow.
In English 10 we pretty much did a lot of the same things listed in Literature 9. Our next speech is over a potential career. We will be working on some career readiness tomorrow with Mr. Helkenn.
In American Government we kept our semester notebook going. I did distribute a cover sheet if one was needed. We then discussed the Preamble. Essentially it's taking the graphic (eagle and pyramid) and putting it into words. Everyone chose one keyword (tranquility, liberty, common defense), and go to the Landmark website (link is on your worksheet) and search among Presidential Inaugural Addresses. In your email, I sent you links to four different articles. These articles are related to "we the people." Are animals people? How about children? Corporations? Immigrants? Each student was assigned one of the links to read for Monday. Current Events are due next Friday.
I hope everyone can manage to stay warm in this blast of cold weather. If not, have a hot bowl of soup - come out to Hope Reformed Church's Soup and Pie supper.
