Thursday already, and for some reason I work up with a "blah" attitude. I don't know why, and I think it's catchy. It seems like quite a few of us are "off our feed". That's an idiom I don't get to use much.
In Literature 9 we started by discussing what kind of survivalist we would be. As for me, I'm just going to curl up and die now. I wouldn't last two minutes on Mount Everest. Then we completed a worksheet called Monitoring Comprehension. To complete this everyone had to identify the main people in the story, where things took place, and the important objects. We finished the class by discussing the structure of the essay - chronological and spatial order. Whatever we didn't finish in class, we are supposed to finish on our own.
In English 10 we reviewed and then took our test related to Mythology. After individuals completed their test, they then had the rest of the class period to work on their notecards and rehearse their motivational speeches. Motivational speeches need to motivate people - get them to change their behavior. Some of you have persuasive topics, but they aren't necessarily motivational!
In American Literature we finished up (for the most part) Ralph Waldo Emerson. We discussed "Self-Reliance" and then watched a fun video entitled Schmoop. It really puts this essay into perspective - no friends, be a nonconformist, reality television. Then we moved onto Emerson's poetry "Each and All," but didn't quite get to "Days". We'll pick that up on Tuesday. Unfortunately I thought the essay "Civil Disobedience" was in the book, but it's actually a handout. I will get that to everyone here during 8th hour.
In Law we started by talking about judicial independence. President Trump is challenging the independent nature of the courts. His nominee is even criticizing him, but that isn't new. We then discussed Bill's Very Bad Day (Constitutional, Administrative, and Statute Law). Since I was feeling especially "blah" we didn't get a whole lot done. Not their fault - all mine.
Have a great day eveyrone!
