I know, I know...but it's a new day, and I'm going to start afresh.
In Literature 9 we're to Chapter 15 of To Kill a Mockingbird. Yesterday we finished reading together Chapter 15 - the attempted lynching of Tom Robinson. I believe Ben Franklin had it right when he said, "Mobs are heads enough, but no brains." The recent riots at ISU prove that. Today we're going to take our chapter quizzes over 11-15. We will probably have time to discuss the vocabulary, and even get some additional reading completed.
In English 10 we're moving through Romeo and Juliet. Today we worked on the skills of proving what we believe. I think we're getting better at verbals, but some are still really struggling. Hopefully by next week, we'll have everyone on track.
In American Literature we're about to study the movement entitled naturalism. We've finished our discussion of Mark Twain, but is anyone truly done talking about Mark Twain? I hope we find ourselves with enough time to finish the authors I have planned. I hope I can get to a few more modern authors, but every year I believe I have more time than I really do.
In American Government we're headlong into our Executive Branch unit. We've discussed and researched the qualifications of the President. We're then going to run a campaign seeing whether that candidate could win a modern election. Could John Adams will an election using modern campaigning techniques. I wonder.
In law we've just finished our criminal unit. I can safely say, it was really fun to learn and study it with this class. I, as their teacher, could see how much they learned about the law.
