Today was such a long day. It might have something to do with the fact that I was here at 6:30 AM trying to get my paperwork completed.
In Literature 9 we discussed idioms. I really enjoy talking about common phrases in our English language. Ironically Ms. Robin is discussing them in her Spanish class as well. We couldn't have planned the timing better. Then everyone took their Chapter 6-10 Quiz. I think most did well, I didn't see any crying. For Monday (or tomorrow) everyone should read Chapter 11 and complete the two vocabulary words.
In English 10 it was all about the Prologue today. We started translating English into English. I haven't always taught Shakespeare, but I have to admit, it's one of my favorite units now. We also worked on participle phrases. That, however, is not so much fun!
In American Literature we applied the elements of an author's style to Mark Twain. That actually took longer than I anticipated. We analyzed the first five paragraphs of Huck Finn. We didn't get as far as I anticipated, but that's o.k. We had some good discussion as well.
In Law we reviewed the court system, but not after talking for 30 minutes about things in the news - Ferguson police being shot, a group of girls from Brooklyn attacking another girl. There was a lot of weird stuff in the news. We'll finish up Chapter 4 on Monday, and take our unit test on Tuesday.
Have a great Thursday evening everyone! I hope to see a lot of people at the Individual Night of Performance.
