She's b--a--c--k! I can only handle being gone one day because I miss you guys too much. (And I'm not being sarcastic.) I really do miss you when I'm gone. I wonder how things are going, are things getting done.
In Literature 9 we reviewed allusion using ten sentences that contain different types of allusions. That took a lot of the class period. We then raced through a few of the details for our story detective. Since time was running out, we just worked on our homework (for like a minute). Everyone was to make a Venn diagram (two intertwining circles) on the back of the story detective. Reviewing the information on Saki (pg. 79) and O.Henry (pg. 114), fill out the Venn diagram. I also distributed an Irony and Characterization workshop. Complete the first page (front side).
In English 10 we worked on a chronological activity. There was an accident (on the worksheet), and each table was to group the information into three to four main headings. This information could be grouped chronologically or topically. Once it was grouped, they were to look at the number of details under each heading. If there wasn't enough information (one detail does not make up the main idea or there were too many details under one heading) then things needed to be regrouped. For tomorrow, make a list of details for the personal narrative topic - as many details as possible. Tomorrow we will be working on grouping those details into main ideas.
In American Government, we talked about communism. We discussed the concepts behind the economic system, the advantages and disadvantages, and reviewed the information that was supplied in the videos assigned (5 facts about Communism by Mojo). We had a little time, not much, to review the cumulative worksheet that was distributed on Wednesday. Our test is on Friday. Be sure to study the six economic functions of ALL governments, understand the different characteristics of each economic system, and then be able to defend your answer to the question, "What role should the government have in the economy?" There was an article that should help you frame your answer.
Wednesday is hump day, and the weekend is coming fast. I can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Have a great day everyone.
