After the long tournament night, it was hard to get motivated today. Now I'm kind of on automatic. Let's see when I hit a wall.
In Literature 9 we took our vocabulary test. Before taking the test, we "played" with the words. If there was a word giving us fits, I tried to "doodle" my way into learning it. After finishing the test, most people had time to read for their allotted ten minutes. For homework, there is a video link to the explanation of the Gettysburg Address. Take notes so that you can prove you watched the video.
In English 10, it was a little frustrating as I wanted to get through three speeches in each class. In sixth hour, we only got through one and in seventh two. This is really going to put us behind the eight-ball. Now that I've got the videos uploading and space on the camera, hopefully, tomorrow will go better. For homework, everyone should take their quiz on No Red Ink. This website is causing a few of you problems, and I apologize for that. We're trying to learn the site as a possible addition to our English curriculum. After I work with it a bit, maybe I can figure out some of the kinks.
In American Government, I had so much fun. I was planning to lecture the amendment process. Exciting I know, but maybe not so much for my students. So I gave them twenty minutes to figure out how to explain it through skits, posters, etc. Third period class went the artistic route - posters, etc. while fourth hour went skit and action. It was so fun. I think it was one of the best lessons I've taught in a while (and it was all on the fly!) For Friday, please watch the video on the Bill of Rights and fill out the Guided Reading. Current Events is due NEXT Friday. With the tournament and all the excitement, please be sure that you get this done!
In Law we started with our Murder in a Box. We read the first part of the journal, discussed what we thought might be important clues. We then opened up the first envelope. Since I've never done this either, I'm learning right alongside you. We then read our scenarios, and I have to say - they were fun and intriguing. You came up with some really good and thought-provoking situations. We didn't get too far in our crimes against "realty," but we'll continue tomorrow. We will be working with our legal vocabulary tomorrow, so be prepared.
Have a great day everyone!
