I'm back on track again, getting things done when I am supposed to.
In Literature 9 we discussed allusions. An allusion is a reference to something the writer or director expects the audience to know. For example a picture of a whale laying on top of a church and the caption reads "The Humpback of Notre Dame". Obviously the author is trying to make us think the "Hunchback of Notre Dame." We then reviewed yesterday's homework. "Sweet Potato Pie" is the next story. Everyone is to read up to page 143-147 (Stopping at the paragraph "And the luckiest" (second column).
In English 10 we reviewed sentences and fragments and also did a brief assessment. Then we reviewed the unit plan on Informative Speaking and then started taking notes on the types of informative speaking. We will continue to take notes tomorrow.
In American Government tests were returned. It was not a happy time for many students. Hopefully after discussing the sheer number of zeroes in the classroom and the lack of attention (or that the flat out apathy), maybe things will change for second quarter. Then we played a game entitled "Make as Much Money as You Can." The idea behind the game is that for our country to survive in the beginning everyone needed to think about the entire nation rather than simply their own colony. Hopefully after playing the game we can connect with the attitude of "whole" rather than "part".
Working on the set after school, a football game, and getting things switched over for second quarter are all on the agenda for tonight. Hopefully I can get even more crossed off my to-do list.
