A fun day in room 111! I'm teaching so many of my favorite units. I just love To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet, and Washington Irving.
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of Chapter 3 - Scout's characteristics, Calpurnia's loneliness. Then we took a check over Chapter 4 and reviewed the vocabulary for that chapter. I distributed a worksheet over the chapters 4-6 (Summer with Dill). We will be finishing Chapter 5 tomorrow, and then we will take a quiz over Chapters 1-5 tomorrow.
In English 10 I wasn't in class due to a doctor's appointment. This is what was left. First everyone was to discuss the events of Act 1, Scene 1 and write a summary for our summaries. Then in each of the pods, everyone should review the information for the prologue and Act 1, Scene 1. A Moodle check was next, and then everyone was supposed to correct their Participles vs. Gerunds Worksheet. I left the key. The rest of the class period was working on the Act 1, Scene 2 Annotation assignment.
In American Literature we started class by applying the qualities of an author's style to paragraphs written by Ernest Hemingway and then Washington Irving. We then discussed the "Adventures of a German Student". This Romantic literature has so many of the qualities - emotional component, gothic literature, word choice. Everyone took a check over the particular story they were assigned (Devil and Daniel Webster or Devil and Tom Walker). Then partners were assigned and on Thursday they will work in pairs comparing and contrasting the stories.
In Law we finished our criminal packet. They turned in their section reviews (pg. 70); well, one of them did anyway. We discussed crimes against property, reality, and government. Tomorrow we're going to take a quiz over 5-1.
Have a great Tuesday!
