Speech season has drawn to a close. I can feel myself relax and start to think of next year. That's crazy, but it's what I do. I start to anticipate next year's one-act or possible ensembles or what type of individual speech topics so and so could have.
In Literature 9 it was time to catch seventh period up with fifth period. Both classes reviewed the vocabulary words for Chapter 11. In fifth hour we started a second timeline, but we'll need to get to that tomorrow in seventh hour. We took a check over Chapter 11 (7th Hour), and fifth hour had the chance to read Chapter 12 (along with completing the vocabulary).
In English 10 we took a quick assessment on participle phrases. I haven't had a chance to look at everyone's, but I'm hoping by oral comments we're good to move on to gerunds. Then it was time to get into Act 1, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet. I always love this. With a few red and blue hats, we act out the first scene - the fight between Samson, Gregory, Benvoilio and Tybalt. It also brings the play alive for the students.
In American Government we reviewed "how a bill becomes a law". We had to finish our simulation. The Senate chamber failed to override the Presidential veto, so our bill on the ignition interlock system failed. We then took a quiz over the process. Everyone had time to start on a puzzle related to the presidents, along with reading Chapter 8-1.
Tomorrow several students will be gone to USD for a music festival. Remember to get your work made up as soon as you return. If you are in Literature 9, you must get your reading check done as soon as you can on Wednesday.
