On the one hand this week is going by so quickly, but on the other hand, it is going be very slowly. Talk about antithesis!
In Literature 9 we're working on similes, metaphors, and personification. The students took a quick check over it, and although I haven't looked on Moodle, I'm sure they did wonderfully. We reviewed four of the eight words from the play "Trifles". We then began to read this disturbing one-act. We will be working on drawing conclusions and making inferences while we read.
In English 10 we review conjunctions. We're almost done with parts of speech, and on Tuesday we'll take our big unit test. Then we discussed the six C's of speaking: connect, be concise, be correct, be concrete, be clear, be complete. We will be working for the rest of the week on our speeches.
In American Literature we finished discussing the five principles of the U.S. Constitution: popular sovereignty, federalism, limited government, checks and balances, separation of powers. We could add the sixth if we pull out judicial review. Our Constitution has lasted for over 230 years, and it is because of these principles that it has been this successful.
Happy Wednesday everyone.
