Congratulations to the boy's track team! What a great showing at yesterday's district meet. Keep training and good luck next week at state. Imagine for some of you this is your third state appearance in three different sports!
In Literature 9, we watched a short video on the Scottsborough Boys and the injustice that they faced. Then we went on and watched another short video, but this one was on the integrity and valor of Robert E. Lee. Harper Lee uses the Robert E. Lee Ewell to show the contrast between a man without integrity and a man with honor. We then took our quiz over Chapters 16-21. With time remaining, we worked on the vocabulary paragraph (Chapters 16-21). We ran out of time, so we'll have to tackle that on Monday. Read Chapters 22-23 for Monday, along with the two words from those chapters.
In English 10, we basically read aloud most of Act IV. We go through scenes 1-3 in 7th period, with just a little of scene 3 in 6th hour. We also filled in our study guides as we went. It doesn't take much to finish Act IV. I'm hoping we can finish the play by the end of the week, so we have plenty of time to watch the movie! Don't forget to read for 10 minutes!
In American Lit, we took our test over Of Mice and Men. I also assigned the project of a character autopsy. With this project, you are to choose a main character and look for the character traits. Everything is supposed to be direct quotations - lines directly taken from the novel itself. There is some need for illustration, but remember if effort is shown, points are given. Your autopsy is due on Tuesday.
In Law, we reviewed the key elements of a tort, the differences between negligence, strict liability, and intentional torts. We reviewed preponderance of evidence vs. beyond a reasonable doubt. It was a quick review, and boy, there was a lot of information! I hope people took a little time and studied. We being our crime on Monday!
I hope everyone has a chance to spend a little time with the moms this weekend. Everyone believes that their mom is best, and everyone is correct - every mom is the best! Happy Mother's Day Mom!
