I realize that I'm getting this blog out a little late. It was quite the weekend. On Friday we rushed out of town in order to get up to Hutchinson and visit my daughter, her husband, and their two little girls. Saturday I unfortunately found out my first cousin was killed in a motorcycle accident. Then one of my daughter's best friend, like a daughter to me, had her baby only to have him fly to children's hospital as he was laying on his umbilical cord and not getting needed oxygen. He's struggling. It's been quite the weekend.
In English 10 we finished our Past, Present, and Future speeches. Overall they were well done. We only have a few students that will need to redo their speech because they were under time. We also took a Parts of Speech check. Hopefully we can move on to other grammar and punctuation.
In American Government we started our discussion of the Constitution. Not every Constitution has a document that limits its government. In the United States' case, our Constitution is the supreme law of the land as it limits the powers of our three branches of government. We then began a discussion about developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries. Each student chose three countries (one for each category) and were told to explore specific facts and data, using the CIA World Factbook.
In Literature 9 we began class with completing a vocabulary exercise. Then we took a few notes on Author's Purpose (we put it on the back of the 10 details from "Of Dry Good and Black Bow Ties"). Then we started a worksheet on Author's Purpose.
Hope everyone's weekend was good. Remember to turn to those you love and tell them. You might always be given that chance.
