I love what I teach. Starting the day with Shakespeare, then to Twain, not to mention Harper Lee...I know, I'm a nerd - but I'm a happy nerd!
In Literature 9 we played a little with idioms on a webpage www.funbrain.com/Idioms. Then we took our check over Chapter 12. There is so much we learn about Calpurnia and her history with the Finch family. We didn't quite get to the vocabulary; in fact we struggled with finishing our discussion of Chapter 12. Chapter 13 is next on the agenda, and I had to apologize as this chapter is very boring. It's all about heredity and family structure.
In English 10 we tried to finish Act 1 Scene 1, but we still have a little to get to. That's o.k, we're enjoying the sword fighting, the talk of love, juxtaposition, light/dark, and oxymorons. If you were in 8th hour, get the three vocabulary terms. We'll finish up Act 1, Scene 1 and start working on our summaries.
In American Literature we finished with Huck Finn (although we need to discuss malapropism in fourth hour). We discussed the Essential Questions (which were on the reverse side of the dialect worksheet). These questions will be on the quiz on Thursday, so maybe having a game plan in place might be a good idea. It's remarkable that this book was written in 1885 yet we have suck strong discussion over its contents. That's the definition of great literature.
In law we took our test over Chapter 4. It was pretty quiet, so I'm not sure if that is a good sign or a bad one. We will watch 48 hours tomorrow, and then begin our Criminal Unit on Thursday.
Have a great Tuesday - and I hope the Jazz Band and Swing Choir rock it out!
