First I was here, then I wasn't, and now I'm here. Thank you for being so flexible! I truly appreciate it.
In Literature 9 we discussed the story "The Leap". We compared how the mother and the daughter both handled tension-filled events. We noticed that they both were calm, assessed the situation, and calmly handled the crisis. We talked how the mother made life and death decisions several times in her life. We had time to review the vocabulary words, and then we completed a sequencing activity. I made cards that were to be sequenced according to the plot line. A second set of cards were for the structure of the story. Then in fifth hour we had time to weave them together. Everyone really seemed to understand the structure and how the flashbacks also included some key details. The only assignment is to make a reading quiz over the story.
In English 10 we spent the entire class period working with vocal personality. A fun new way to review the definition is to "Name that definition in ___ words." It's a take on the old "Name that Tun in this many notes." We got several definitions down to one or two words, at the same time talking about the word and it's meaning. We finished up our notes on vocal delivery. We spent a little time on some fun inflection exercises and tongue twisters. I'm glad I was here for this!
In American Government we paused our Survivor game to work on developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries. Using the CIA Worldfact book, we are researching the various statistics and on Wednesday we hope to compare the information. Most of the class period was getting everyone on the right track with this assignment.
A chaotic Monday for sure, and hopefully tomorrow will be much easier! Have a great day everyone.
