The heat seems to be a lot better in the building, which I'm thankful for since it's SNOWING outside. Snow and on May 1st. That's just crazy, and wrong on so many levels.
In Literature 9 we were all shocked at the death of Tom Robinson. Every time I read chapter 24, I pray that the outcome is different. I'm an eternal optimist hoping that everything will work out in the end, but in the case of this fiction, the answer to that is no. We took our check, then worked on the web of impact. We also started, but didn't finish an activity related to tone of voice. We will finish that tomorrow.
In English 10 we reviewed the events of Act III, played a little Kahoot, and then took our quiz. We started working on our Phrases Study Guide in preparation for our unit test on Friday. It seems like everyone was doing all right on the game and review, so I hope the quiz scores support that assumption.
In American Government we started the actual debating of our bills in committee. We divided into four committees. The committee you sit on is where your bill was assigned (Health, Education, Commerce, and - prison reform in 3rd hour and Committee on Age for 4th hour). We had to be creative for that fourth one as we had some "miscellaneous bills" that we weren't quite sure where to assign. We being me the Parliamentarian and the Speaker of the House. Once they were assigned, then committee chairpersons were appointed - Nationalists (the majority party) were chairpersons for three of the committees and Federalists (the minority party) chaired one committee. Then the debate began. Each committee got through one bill, so that leaves several bills to get through on Wednesday.
In Law we took notes on the elements of a tort (duty, violation of duty, injury, and causation (connection). We then were able to discuss duty of care and professional duty of care. For tomorrow everyone should have a case that involves a tort (lawsuit) of some kind. We will use that to determine what was the duty of care.
