It was very quiet in the school today with the Swing Choir, Jazz band, and FFA all gone. I'm not saying they are chatty or loud, just that the school was quiet.
In Literature 9, we first reviewed the vocabulary words. Then we discussed how the author Anne Murrow Lindberg established her thesis in the essay "Sayonara". For Wednesday, everyone is supposed to read "A New Generation of Americans" on page 380.
Most of the students were gone in English 10. We were left with just a handful, so we tackled just a couple of the rant speeches. That's going to set us behind schedule a bit, so I'm not sure if we're going to do the impromptu speeches. I then recorded my lecture related to panel discussions. Those that are absent need to watch, take notes, and have a topic ready for class tomorrow.
In American Literature, again, we had a lot of students gone, so I created a video and sent it out. Those of you that were absent will need to come in and get the notes for it. This was easier than what I had planned. I guess I didn't anticipate that the lesson scheduled would be so difficult with that many people gone. For Thursday, please read Henry David Thoreau's "Civil Disobedience".
In Law, we read the outcome to our mystery box. I have to admit I was a little disappointed. It seemed pretty obvious. We then reviewed "intent" (or lack of intent) defenses - intoxication and involuntary intoxication. I also presented the sleepwalking defense. We then moved on to the justification defenses - I did it, but I was justified. For tomorrow, do the panels marked 83-85.
The sun shining through my windows makes me long for spring and summer. It's too early to be wishing for that!
