Having a headache all day (and in the A.M. it was really bad) made for a long day. I swear I was a little off too. I looked at a student's screen, and proudly proclaimed, "I've seen that whale. It hangs in a museum in Washington. It's huge!" The student calmly looked up and said, "That's an airplane." So who mistakes an airplane for a whale? Someone with a screw loose that's who.
In English 10 we took our subject predicate quiz. It seemed so many finished at the same time. I hope everyone did o.k. Then we went to the Smithsonian's website concerning 100 Objects that Made America. Each student is to choose one, and then write down three facts. This is going to be an exercise in telling us about something.
In American Government today was all about Separation of Powers. Each branch has it's own job description, and sometimes that includes watching over the shoulder of the other branches (Checks and Balances). We took some notes, played a few SMART board games, and then ended with a small check. Those that did really poorly on the check are more than welcome to come in and give it another go.
In Literature 9 it was all about vocabulary and homophones. Tomorrow we will read one of my favorite stories "The Sniper."
Happy Wednesday!
