Well, it's Sunday afternoon, and I'm trying to get caught up on the last two weeks (it could be the last three weeks) of work. Large group speech keeps me hopping, and when I get home, I'm so exhausted I find I don't have the energy that I used to.
In Literature 9 we finished up our notes on "The Necklace". We then discussed Isaac B. Singer's background, and then time was given in class to read his short story "Son from America." It's one of my favorite. We will finish our short story unit this week with unit tests towards the end of the week.
In English 10 we reviewed object complements. Many seemed to understand the concept right away. We then had the opportunity to hear three to four motivational speeches. We're getting towards the end of our speech unit - with one speech to go along with parliamentary procedure. I know I need to get everything done so we have a full quarter of Romeo and Juliet. Time is just slipping away.
In American Literature we finished up our Scarlet Letter lessons with a quiz + test (commonly known as a 'quest'). Then the novel Of Mice and Men was distributed. A reading schedule was also given out, with all reading concluded by March 6. I know the students will love this book, and I'm anxious to teach it for the first time.
In Law we shared our legal articles. We had four students choose the an article about a family staging a mock kidnapping and terrorizing their six year old, all because he was too friendly. Then we continued to discuss our civil court procedure that is tied to statute law. Next week we should finish administrative law along with case law. I hope that we can have our first unit test next week.
January is over and now the first week of February. Time is really flying this year.
