First, happy birthday to Gabriella my gorgeous granddaughter. She's three already, and Grandma is wishing she could be there with her!
All courses: We discussed in most of my classes the difference between emails and text message. One is definitely more formal than the other, and when asking me a question via email, please use formal structure. Put in a greeting, ask politely your question, and end with a closing. I will not respond to "text-type" emails. That is equivalent to shouting at me down the hall.
In English 10 we started reviewing parts of speech. No one enjoys parts of speech (and I mean no one), but it is the foundation of our language, so it is a necessary evil. Whether you speak, write, or read, a good knowledge of how our language works is vital to effective communication. We then finished up our notes on the Listening process. We reviewed the requirements for tomorrow's speech. Remember to practice OUTLOUD!
In American Literature everyone was asked to clean up their "G" drives. There should be folders that represent some sort of organization. Also the same speech regarding emails vs. text messaging was given (see above). The Native American literature quizzes were returned, and we discussed appropriate short answers. A sample of acceptable to unacceptable answers was provided. We then began our discussion of Puritan literature - the importance of the Mayflower Compact to our culture and government.
In Literature 9 grades for the photostory were returned. We tried to iron out all the technological problems that seemed to appear. No one has received a zero or late points yet, but we're trying to figure out what is going on with technology. We then discussed the "G" drive issue as well as emails. (see above). We then started to review finding the main idea. This is also was interesting because it was downloading a Word document and saving it. We ended by reviewing an inference and trying to finish "Zooley". Whew, we were some busy people during fifth and seventh hour.
Every day I'm amazed at how much we manage to cram in a 42 minute class period. I'm so glad you can follow along!
