Today was a rough day for many of us. Dave Vander Laan was loved by a lot of people around the community. Abby, Seth, and Erik are an integral part of our school system, and they hurts, so we all hurt. Please keep this amazing family in your thoughts and prayers.
In Literature 9 we took our reading check over "The Cask of the Amontillado". Then we reviewed the reading CLOSE (worksheet), and also discussed how Poe could manipulate language so well. We also reviewed part of our characterization workshop (#2).
In English 10 we reviewed propaganda techniques. Since this took much of the class period, tomorrow will be a study day, and the test will be on Friday.
In American Government we started class with our Current Events discussion. We then finished up our notes on Democracy. Everyone is going to work on a project that will reflect understanding of the concept of democracy and the environment that is needed for growth.
In closing, today began so horribly, but as routine came into play, it is so easy to get caught up in the concept that "life goes on." For the Vander Laan's life has forever been altered. May we each take time to tell those we cherish how much we love them. Rest in peace Dave. God delights in you!
