Today we're getting a blast of summer, and it's nice, but we all know that fall and the dreaded winter is right around the corner.
In Literature 9 we watched a funny video about carrots, hunters, and an eagle. I absolutely love this video and laugh every time. I really thought it was sweet how many of you felt bad for the rabbit. Just a reminder - it isn't real! :-) Then we reviewed the remaining three vocabulary words. We took our final check over the "Most Dangerous Game". Everyone was placed in a group that they will remain with until Thursday. This group will work on the questions related to the story and tomorrow we will start our island maps. This is always a fun assignment. This week is an assessment week with a quiz over the story and the vocabulary. For homework, everyone should finish the questions.
In English 10 we reviewed the five communication arenas - intraperson, two-person, group, public speaking, and mass media. We then tried to provide a personal example for each. Most of us have participated in four of the five arenas. Then we finished up our vocabulary presentations, but unfortunately, in sixth hour, we have a few to go. Then we tried to move on to our notes, but again time got the better of us. Losing ten minutes every day is really making me rethink my lesson planning. That's o.k., but I love looking up and seeing everyone read! No homework for tomorrow!
In American Literature we reviewed ethos, pathos, and logos. We then introduced our vocabulary "Words Related to Language." We will be making our vocabulary teams on Thursday. We then took an annotation guide and started to review Leonard Pitts' essay. We discussed the importance of annotation, and how these skills will help us in our more difficult classes. For homework, everyone is supposed to watch the Rhetorical Devices video (link on Moodle) and fill out the notes that were given in class. We will finish up the Leonard PItts' essay in class on Thursday.
This may sound silly, but I'm excited for the finale of America's Got Talent. My husband and I watch this every year, and we love it! Have a great Tuesday.
