Hump day! Wednesdays are forever going to be associated with the camel from the Geiko commercials!
In Literature 9 we started our day off wonderfully with over 15 students sitting in class before school reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I love it! We reviewed the vocabulary (1st hour), took our check (both classes) and then started our discussion of the literary elements (worksheet). It was obvious that some students were already enjoying the book by their responses. We discussed the importance of finding the key details to include in our summaries. We will finish up chapter 1 and move on to two tomorrow.
In English 10 we worked on tackling the first fourteen lines of Romeo and Juliet. Everyone did wonderfully! If you take it a little bit at a time, it will make sense! We will finish the literary analysis tomorrow. If you didn't finish the Globe Theater tour, you need to make sure you complete that before tomorrow.
In American Government we discussed the benefits of being a Congressman/Senator, how they are disciplined, and the demographics. It's easy to blame Congress for not "looking like us," but who else can run for office other than older, well-established men. Most 25 year olds are getting married, having babies, and trying to pay off their college loans. So Congress doesn't look like us, but I would think (and hope) that most of them have our nation's best interest at heart. I know it needs to change, but how do we change the make-up of Congress.
In Law we spent most of the class period working on a Law Enforcement puzzle. We will begin our criminal unit in more depth tomorrow.
Have a great HUMP day everyone!
