Another day, another...dollar? headache? challenge? smile? Yep, that's it - smile. I was so proud of my students, my speech team, and my administration. I had quite a few obstacles today, yet everyone worked together and the challenges were met and conquered. I feel like I should yell Who-Rah (like a Marine).
In English 10 we finished up all discussion of our persuasive speech. We made our notecard, our outlines are completed, and we're ready to go with speeches. Hopefully everyone will be ready for their own presentations tomorrow. We also reviewed the next four vocabulary words related to vocabulary. Test will be on Friday (for first hour) and Monday (for eighth hour).
In American Literature today we took a reading probe. Then we applied the elements of Romanticism (emotion, nationalism, and the 5 I's) to "The Highwayman." Then I distributed a handout for The Scarlet Letter. Everyone should complete the first page on the prison door.
In Literature 9 we finished our discussion of vocabulary for "Sweet Potato Pie". Then we discussed dialect. Translating English into English is a challenging activity. Even we Iowans :-) have a dialect that others struggle with. Tomorrow we will be completing a vocabulary lesson and move on to "The Scarlet Ibis".
Have a great Tuesday, and I'll see you tomorrow!
