This day just flew by. It might have something to do with the fact that I overslept this morning, and I've been scrambling ever since.
In Literature 9 I had fun today, and I hope you all did two. We reviewed the vocabulary for "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (that wasn't the fun part), and then we discussed what a stock character was. Then it was time for the fun part. We played charades. Everyone had two "stock" characters they had to act out. One point for guessing and a second point for successfully presenting. Then we created tableaues for each of Mitty's dreams. Fun. Then we learned about storyboards. Everyone needs to create six panels with a cell plus a description. The panels should be in order of the story and reflect some kind of summary.
In English 10 we reviewed our assignment on complements. Then I showed everyone how to record to their computers (type "sound recorder" in the search box that pops up when you hit start.) This file will then be uploaded to Story Corps. Don't forget to take a selfie with your person. We then discussed informative speeches and our demonstration speech. I distributed the instructions as well as the rubric. Tomorrow everyone has to have their topic in hand.
In American Government it was all about the final days of the Constitutional Convention. We reviewed the plans, the compromises, and then what it took for it to be ratified. We watched a scene from "Hamilton" and also the part that John Jay played in our country. Everyone received a worksheet on ratification. We'll finish things up on Friday, review on Monday, and "quest" on Tuesday.
The rain has slowed down, and the sky is rather beautiful right now. I hope it warms up a bit before the snow sets in on Friday.
