What a day! It took me a few minutes to get my head going in the right direction this morning, but eventually I got my head on straight and the day went wonderfully.
In Literature 9 we did a really fun bellringer (fun for a teacher maybe). I asked the question, "What personality traits do you see the protagonists share?" Each student put one trait on a post-it-note (they could talk in their pods) and then we discussed them as a class. We took ten seconds and then shared how we saw that particular trait in multiple stories. For example, how was courage displayed in multiple stories? It was a great review and some top notch thinking going on. I'm rather proud of myself - hehe. Then we finished up our Irony packet by talking about satire. Then it was finishing up "The Leap". Tomorrow will be the quiz.
In English 10 we reviewed quickly the elements of a vocal personality. Then we took our quiz. I didn't see too much anguish, so maybe it was o.k. We then spent the rest of the class period marking our scripts preparing for our taping tomorrow. We will use Movie Maker and the Webcam camera to complete our project. We will save things to our G-Drives and then upload them from there.
In American Literature we reviewed the many concepts we've learned about Puritan literature. Then we took a quiz. It's really our first assessment in the class. Unfortunately body language told me that some people were struggling. I'm not sure if that's from lack of preparation or not understanding the material. The rest of the class time was supposed to be spent working quietly on the Mayflower Project. I'm not sure it was.
My heads on straight, but my eyes are drooping. Yesterday I fell asleep at my desk - first time in 29 years - I fell asleep at school. I guess I'm just wore out. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to recharge my batteries.
