Everyone is talking about the weather. And I guess for good reason. If the predictions are true, we could get anywhere from 12 to 18 inches. That's something to discuss. Because of the impeding storm, we were released at 1:00 PM today.
In Literature 9 we started class by describing someone we admire. This is to parallel the idea of the author's admiration for Mr. Shimada. Then we watched a fun video of domino tricks. This metaphor is for the cause and effect structure in literature. I hope it makes sense to others, because not always do my metaphors connect. Then we reviewed the worksheet devoted to cause and effect, as well as author's purpose. We will be completing a workshop on author's purpose, so this was a good introduction to it. For homework, everyone is supposed to complete a vocabulary exercise. Normally I don't let these be done outside of class, but with weather issues, I need to try to keep to some kind of schedule.
In American Literature the day was devoted to the Declaration of Independence. We finished our notes, and also I shared the sacrifices the men made when they pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor". I don't know how we could ever repay those men and women for that ultimate sacrifice.
In Law we took notes on Constitutional Law and focused on the Bill of Rights. We will finish up Constitutional Law tomorrow and move onto Statute Law.
Everyone be safe, and I hope we'll see each other tomorrow.
