Today was a rough day. Saying good-bye to a dear friend is never easy. However, because we can grieve together, it does take some of the burden and sorrow away.
In Literature 9 (mostly in first hour), we started to review the elements of "The Interlopers". We reviewed the vocabulary (1st hour), and some of the story map. We're a little further behind in fifth hour as I didn't get back from the funeral as quickly as I thought I would. We'll catch up - we always do. Everyone should work on the review puzzle that was handed out.
In English 10 we went over the non-traditional (inverted) sentence. We discussed the question, sentences that begin with "here" or "there". We completed Exercise 6 on page 35. This should be done on the same page as all the other notes (The Sentence, pg. 11). Then we started to review the perimeters of the next speech (personal experience/quotation speech). We discussed the requirements, the grading rubric, and the outline. In sixth hour, those speeches will begin on Wednesday. In second hour they will begin on Thursday. We will complete these speeches before the end of the quarter on the 23rd.
In American Government so many people were gone for the funeral, Feed the Farmers, or just absent, that it was mostly a study hall. Everyone needs to be sure that their economic notes are done, along with the worksheet Which Economic System Am I? Also this week's current event revolves around the upcoming presidential campaign. Everyone is supposed to choose a candidate and find out why they think they are qualified to be president. Then also the regular requirements of summarizing something in the news.
All in all a tiring day, but joyful as well. Dave would have loved this morning's service. God delight's in you Dave Vander Laan - and everyone else that might read this post - God delights in you as well.
