Still gone, so this is what was given to the substitute.
In Literature 9 the story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" was supposed to be read today. This is a story of daydreams vs. reality. A worksheet corresponds to this comparison and contrast short story. If you were gone today, please stop by and pick up the worksheet.
In English 10, another day to work on speeches. I expect to be dazzled with all this time to work. Remember that a speech still needs to contain the essential elements - introduction, preview, transitions, and conclusion. The speech should also include Aristotle's elements: logos, ethos, and pathos. Good luck - I hope you're working hard!
In American Literature today was a day devoted to Author's Style. I uploaded a Moodle file under the same name. Using the worksheet provided, it was important to fill out the notes. Then there were two pieces of literature to apply the elements to - a piece by Hemingway and then Hawthorne (the first paragraph in The Scarlet Letter packet.) We'll return to our novel on Tuesday. Thanks for being flexible.
In Law everyone worked on Bill of Rights scenarios. It is my understanding that Mr. Range came in as a guest speaker to talk about high school lockers and the Fourth Amendment. I appreciate the involvement of our administration to make the Bill of Rights applicable to the students. Then Mrs. Sherirll, the substitute, shared her knowledge of the Des Moines School district vs. Tinker (which we talked about in government, but not here in law). There was a Bill of Rights scenario worksheet to complete as well.
Hopefully my energy will return and I will be back to normal soon!
