Today it seemed like everyone was dragging - faculty, students, everyone. A good long nap would have done many of us a lot of good.
In Literature 9 we took a check over the commonly confused words: who, which, that, conscience, conscious, and conscientious. These are tough. There were sample exercises to do on-line, so hopefully everyone prepared. We then discussed appearances vs. contentment. So many of us are just not content with what we've been given, and that is the subject of the story "The Necklace". We reviewed two of the words, read the first three paragraphs, and tried to figure out the point of view. Then the rest of the class period (about 15 minutes) was set aside to read the story. It has quite the twist at the end.
In English 10 we started with our motivational speeches. Topics presented today: discipline, giving to the homeless, having a positive attitude, and trying harder. I'm looking forward to the rest of the presentations. We also are going to review subject complements. Remember that subject complements are adjectives or nouns that are connected to the subject with a linking verb. Everyone was given a worksheet and was asked to complete #1-20.
In American Government we finished our discussion of the House of Representatives. We took a quiz over 5-2. Then we reviewed what made the Senate unique - smaller group of lawmakers that emphasize freedom of expression, the unique power of the filibuster, and how the party leaders really control politics in the United States Congress. Everyone was given two worksheets - House Classification and 5-4 Guided Reading. Both are to be done for Monday.
In Law we started our discussion of statute law. We first discussed criminal vs. civil. Then under criminal law we distinguished between felony and misdemeanor. For tomorrow everyone should work on the law packet and complete the exercises that are related to civil vs. criminal law.
I hope everyone gets a chance to catch up on their sleep. It really seemed that many of us need some extra ZZZZZZ's.
