Where did this week go? It just flew by! If the entire year travels at this speed, 2015-2016 will set land-speed records that will rival the Guinness Book of World Records.
In Literature 9 we discussed the popularity of the "Lady or the Tiger" justice. Why would something so bloody be so popular? What is it about human nature that would make us want to watch someone die? We then took a quiz on Moodle. This quiz simply reflects whether you read the story or not. Then we returned to our story map and took a few notes on the plot. We'll finish up this story on Tuesday. Don't forget to complete the extra credit.
In English 10 we got to six more presentations with the last of them to be done on Tuesday. We wanted to use Plickers, but the app refused to work, and no matter what I did - it was doomed. We then finished discussing the speech communication model. We'll finish these notes on Tuesday and hopefully get started on our first speech.
In American Literature we made our vocabulary "teams". Each team came up with a name for their group and then divided the work. Each team will be responsible to its team members for learning the words, playing with the words, and eventually be tested on the words (individually). Then the combined team score will be tabulated and best score wins! The prizes will be worth the effort. Then we went over the guidelines for the Novel Forum. Every week you must read a minimum of 10 pages, summarize them, and then reflect on what you were thinking as you read. Go to Mrs. Sandbulte's book and comment on hers, and then choose a classmate to follow and comment on his/hers. That way you're "following" two other books alongside your own. The best way to become a good reader is to simply read. Finally we took a check over the journal by Edward Winslow. We'll pick up our Puritan impact on Tuesday when we return.
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. It's kind of summer's last hurrah!
