This was a rough Monday for me. I'm just thankful that I have students and an administration that acknowledges and helps when someone is struggling. I'm very blessed to be working at such a great school district!
In Literature 9 I tried something new. It's an on-line workshop for "Of Dry Goods and Black Bow Ties." There were pre-reading questions, then as they read they would stop, read and answer other questions. It was a quiet first and eighth period (and I'm not really fond of that as I like loud class periods), but I think it is a good strategy to use to gauge student's reading.
In English 10 we finished all of the vocabulary presentations and also took a little time to review. This is never really a tough vocabulary test, but sometimes all the professions that start with "O" can cause a little confusion. Then we translated our research into an outline. We first worked on writing parallel main points and then we placed our research under the appropriate main point and labeled it (logos, ethos, and pathos). We acknowledged that a well-constructed argument would have at least two of those elements.
In American Government we finished our discussion of the Judicial branch. Then we took our 3-2 quiz. We will be working on studying the amendments and how they are added to our Constitution.
A busy (BUSY) week with the speech tournament on Saturday. I just hope I can get everything done that needs to be done.
